Tokyo Tower sells two completely different tickets, and a lot of visitors buy the expensive one without knowing what they bought — or buy the cheap one and feel short-changed at 150m while looking up at the bit they didn't pay for.
The short version: the Main Deck is ¥1,500 and gets you to 150m. The Top Deck Tour is ¥3,300 and gets you to 250m, as a timed guided tour. Those are not two tiers of the same thing — they are two products.
There is also a quiet trap in how you buy. Booking online saves you money on exactly one of them, and it is not the one you would guess. Here are the official 2026 prices and how to pick.

"Hello from Tokyo Tower’s Main Deck" — a Japanese guide at 150m, describing the city as a jewellery box. This is the cheaper deck, and it’s the one most people actually need.
Main Deck vs Top Deck Tour: what you’re actually choosing
This is the whole decision, so it is worth being blunt about it.

Whether the extra ¥1,800 is worth 100m is genuinely personal. What is not personal: if you only intend to look at the skyline, the Main Deck already does that, and it does it until 23:00 for a third of the price of a rooftop bar.

It’s open until 23:00 — plan around that, not against it
A lot of itineraries put Tokyo Tower at 15:00 because that is where it fits. That is a waste.
The Main Deck runs 9:00–23:00, last entry 22:30. The Top Deck Tour runs 9:00–22:45, last entry 22:15. Tokyo Tower is one of the few big-name attractions in the city you can do after dinner — and the thing it is famous for is the city lit up, not the city at 3pm.

The Tokyo Diamond Tour (and why you probably haven’t heard of it)
There is a third ticket almost no English guide mentions: the Tokyo Diamond Tour — 150m, 250m and a lounge, ¥7,000 for adults.
The reason you have not heard of it is the reason you might not get it: 70 people a day, with fixed departures at 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00. It is not an upsell you take at the counter — it is a separate, small-capacity product you decide on in advance or not at all.
Set tickets: the teamLab Planets combo
The official site sells set tickets that bundle Tokyo Tower with other things — including a bungee VR experience, a tea ceremony on the observation deck, a Tokyo subway 1-day pass, and teamLab Planets.

Getting there
4-2-8 Shibakoen, Minato City, Tokyo. Walkable from several stations, and visible from most of them — which is genuinely how most people navigate to it.
Tips for foreign visitors
- Decide Main Deck or Top Deck before you go — they are different products, not two prices for the same thing.
- Only pre-book the Top Deck Tour. The Main Deck is walk-up at the same price.
- Go at night. 23:00 close, last entry 22:30. This is the after-dinner attraction Tokyo doesn't advertise.
- Travelling with a disability? The official site lists a reduced rate — ¥750 adult for the Main Deck — covering the ticket holder and one carer, on presentation of the relevant certificate.
- Check the set tickets if teamLab Planets or a subway 1-day pass is already in your plan.
Comparing the view options? SHIBUYA SKY is the open-air rooftop one — cheaper than the Top Deck Tour, but with a two-week booking window and a no-bags rule that surprises people.
