Miyajima Seaside Hotel is a Japanese-style hotel on the island of Miyajima, Hiroshima, that calls itself a hidden inn for enjoying views of the Seto Inland Sea. Its lobby looks out over the water, and the sea-view rooms face the lights of Hiroshima across the bay. Before you book, three things matter: it sells only plans with dinner and breakfast; there is no family bath, so you bathe in the shared baths or your room; and a free shuttle bus meets guests at Miyajima Port.

Honto check: Every rule and figure below is from Miyajima Seaside Hotel’s official pages in Japanese and English, its official booking page, and the Hiroshima Prefecture and Hatsukaichi City tax pages, read on October 16, 2026. We have not stayed there. Deliberately not stated: the tattoo rule, an outdoor bath, vegetarian or halal meals, a curfew and the year the hotel opened, none of which the official pages give. Where the official pages give different figures (parking spaces, breakfast and shuttle times, the cancellation schedule), we point you to the hotel instead of picking one.

Getting to Miyajima Seaside Hotel

How do I get there by train and ferry?

The hotel’s FAQ gives the basic route: from JR Miyajimaguchi Station, walk about 5 minutes to Miyajimaguchi Port, take the ferry for about 10 minutes to Miyajima Port, then ride the hotel’s free shuttle bus for about 5 minutes. For the leg from Hiroshima city, see our Hiroshima to Miyajima guide.

How does the shuttle bus work?

The shuttle runs between the port and the hotel in the morning from 8:00 to 10:00 and again from 15:00 in the afternoon. It needs no booking: tell the driver when you arrive, and if you cannot find the bus, call the hotel. The official pages give two different end times for the afternoon runs, so ask the hotel if you will land late.

Can I bring a car or leave my luggage?

Drivers take the car ferry; from Miyajima Port, keep left for about 1.5 km (5 minutes). Free parking is in front of the hotel, but there is none on the mainland side, and at some peak times and over New Year cars cannot go on the ferry. Before check-in, call the hotel and staff will take your bags at the pier; after checkout, call from the pier when you finish sightseeing and they will bring them to you.

The whole building is non-smoking, including the balconies. Rooms come with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap and a tea set.

The baths at Miyajima Seaside Hotel

What are the large baths like?

There is a men’s and a women’s large bath, each with 8 shower stations, an indoor tub and a jet bubble bath; the booking page says the men’s bath looks onto a garden. They are open 6:00 to 9:00 and 15:00 to 23:00. The official pages do not describe the water as a hot spring, and they do not mention an outdoor bath.

Is there a private bath?

No. The FAQ says there is no family bath; use the large baths or the bath in your room. There is no age limit for children, but children aged 6 and over should use the bath for their own sex.

Can I bathe with a tattoo?

The official pages do not mention tattoos. Ask the hotel before you book. Our guide to tattoos in Japanese baths explains what to ask.

What is the tent sauna?

The hotel offers a tent sauna, which it calls a first for Miyajima. Sessions are 2 hours between 10:00 and 17:00, for 1 to 4 people, booked by phone: 10,000 yen for one or two people, 12,000 yen for three and 16,000 yen for four. In summer, the hotel says you can swim in the sea in front of it, though at low tide there is too much seaweed to swim.

Meals at Miyajima Seaside Hotel

What is dinner like?

Dinner is a Japanese course meal starting at 18:00, 18:30 or 19:00. Where you eat depends on the plan: your room, a banquet room, the large hall or the restaurant. The Deluxe and Standard plans are served in the room and the Economy plan in the large hall. In winter, two plans center on Miyajima oysters: an oyster course cooked many ways, and an oyster hot pot course. There are separate menus for elementary school children and for younger children. Please do not bring your own drinks to dinner.

What is breakfast like?

Breakfast is a Japanese set meal in the restaurant or the large hall. The official pages list slightly different start times, so check yours at check-in.

Can the hotel handle allergies?

Yes: the menu can be changed for each guest. Enter the allergy when you book or call the hotel, at least 3 days before your stay; changes on the day are not possible. The official pages say nothing about vegetarian or halal meals, so ask the hotel directly.

On top, Hiroshima Prefecture has charged an accommodation tax since April 1, 2026: 200 yen per person per night when the room charge is 6,000 yen or more. The prefecture bases this on the room-only rate, without meals or consumption tax. Separately, Hatsukaichi City’s Miyajima visitor tax of 100 yen per person per visit is added to your ferry fare. The Standard plan can be booked for up to 2 nights and until 17:00 the day before.

What is the cancellation policy?

The cancellation charges are shown on each plan’s booking page, and the official pages do not all give the same schedule, so read the rule on your plan and confirm it with the hotel before you pay. The hotel cannot change your dates: cancel and book again for the new date. If you have not arrived by 20:00 without contacting the hotel, the terms say the booking may be treated as canceled. See our hotel cancellation guide.

How do I pay?

At the hotel, pay in cash or by Visa or Mastercard; the night cruise and some extras, such as cakes ordered separately, cannot go on a card. The plans sold only on the official site are paid by card online, with no deposit.
