Tominoko Hotel, Kawaguchiko (2026): Onsen, Buffet, Fees

Tominoko Hotel Lake Kawaguchi · Onsen, Buffet
Guide·October 30, 2026·11 min read·Sourced & cross-checked

Tominoko Hotel is a 92-room hotel on Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi, near the foot of Mount Fuji. The hotel says you can see Mount Fuji and the lake from anywhere in the building, and on clear, calm days the “upside-down Fuji” reflected in the water. Before you book, three things matter: the twin rooms have a shower but no bathtub; both meals are buffets; and the free shuttle does not run on weekends or holidays.

Honto check: Every rule and figure below is from Tominoko Hotel’s official website and its official booking page, read on October 16, 2026; the lodging tax is from the town and national government pages. We have not stayed there. Deliberately not stated: the tattoo rule, a private bath, allergy options, parking and the shuttle pickup point, none of which the official pages give; and the cancellation percentages, the latest check-in time, the morning closing time of the baths and the age at which children pay the adult rate, where the official pages give more than one answer.

RoomSizeBathroom
Standard Twin23 m²Washlet toilet and shower room, no bathtub
Top-floor Twin with terrace20 m²Washlet toilet and shower room, no bathtub

From the official booking page, read October 16, 2026. Other room types may appear on some plans.

A third guest can be added to a twin room; ask the hotel how the extra bed is set up. There is no room service, but every floor has vending machines and a free ice machine.

What is in the room?

Rooms have a TV, phone, hair dryer, desk lamp, individual air conditioning, kettle and tea set; an iron and a humidifier can be borrowed. Towels, bath towels, a yukata, slippers, a toothbrush set, a razor and a shower cap are provided.

What are breakfast and dinner like?

Both meals are all-you-can-eat buffets in the restaurant on the 1st floor, with menus that change by season. Breakfast runs from 7:00 to 9:00 and dinner from 18:00 to 21:00. The booking page notes that, depending on the number of guests, the meal may be a set menu instead. On room-only plans, dinner can be added for 2,500 yen and breakfast for 1,500 yen per person, before tax.

Can the hotel handle allergies or a special diet?

The official pages do not mention allergies, vegetarian food or other diets. Use the inquiry form or call before you book.

The hot-spring baths at Tominoko Hotel

What baths are there?

There are separate men’s and women’s viewing baths and open-air baths. The booking page says the water is drawn from “Reisui no Yu” and that the viewing bath is on the 5th floor, looking out over Mount Fuji and the lake. The spring is a hypotonic, weakly alkaline calcium-sodium sulfate spring. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, razors, brushes and skin-care products for men and women are in the bathrooms.

When are the baths open?

The baths open at 15:00 and stay open into the next morning, with a one-hour cleaning break from midnight. The official page gives two different morning closing times, so check at the front desk on arrival.

Is there a private bath, and can I bathe with a tattoo?

The official pages do not mention a private bath or tattoos. Ask the hotel before you book; our tattoo and onsen guide explains what to ask.

Prices, children, cancellation and payment at Tominoko Hotel

How much does a stay cost?

On October 16, 2026, the booking page started at 12,100 yen per adult with dinner and breakfast (24,200 yen for two in one twin room), and at 8,800 yen per adult for room only, tax included. For the top-floor twin with terrace in October 2026, two adults paid 24,200 yen on weekdays and 28,600 yen on Saturdays. No deposit is required. On top, a bathing tax of 150 yen per adult is charged; see our onsen bathing tax guide. Fujikawaguchiko town also plans a lodging tax of 200 yen per person per night from April 1, 2027; it was not yet collected as of October 16, 2026.

What do children cost?

On plans with two meals, an elementary school child pays the adult price minus 1,100 yen. A preschool child with meals and bedding also pays the adult price minus 1,100 yen; with meals only, 4,400 yen; with neither, nothing. A preschool child with bedding but no meals cannot be booked. The age at which children pay the adult rate is worded differently on the booking page, so check with the hotel. Room-only plans add a facility fee for young children who share a bed; the amount is on the plan page.

What is the cancellation policy?

The hotel’s website and its booking page each list a cancellation schedule, and the two are not the same. Read the rule on the plan you book and keep a copy. Our hotel cancellation guide explains how these fees work in Japan.

How do I pay?

The website lists Visa, JCB, American Express, DC and Diners Club. Payment options differ by plan and by language on the booking page, so check the payment method on your plan before you confirm.

How do I get to Tominoko Hotel from Kawaguchiko Station?

The access page gives about 12 minutes by bus from Kawaguchiko Station and about 10 minutes by car from Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway. By car, turn right out of the IC, turn right at the second light, cross the Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge and turn right; the hotel is about a minute on. The official pages do not mention parking, so ask when you book.

How does the shuttle work?

The hotel runs a free shuttle from 15:00 to 19:00, except on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Ask for it when you book. The official pages do not name the pickup point, so confirm it with the hotel. For things to do around the lake, see our Lake Kawaguchi guide.

What foreign guests should know before staying at Tominoko Hotel
