Ryokan Shibaya Kanazawa · Bath, Meals, Cash Only
Guide·October 30, 2026·11 min read·Sourced & cross-checked

Ryokan Shibaya is a small inn in Honmachi, Kanazawa, about 3 minutes on foot from the east exit of JR Kanazawa Station. It describes itself as a relaxed little place that serves home-style cooking with local ingredients and a bath of water passed through bakuhanseki, a mineral stone, and it also takes long stays for work trips. Before you book, three things matter: no room has its own bath or toilet; payment is in cash at check-in; and the bath can be booked at check-in for free private use.

Honto check: Every rule and figure below is from Ryokan Shibaya’s official Japanese and English pages, read on October 16, 2026, plus the City of Kanazawa’s page for the accommodation tax. We have not stayed there. Where the Japanese and English pages give different figures, we use the Japanese page and name it, or ask you to confirm with the inn. Deliberately not stated: the tattoo rule, a latest arrival time, station pickup and room rates for the main building, none of which the Japanese pages give.

How do I walk from Kanazawa Station?

Leave JR Kanazawa Station by the east exit, walk through the Tsuzumi-mon gate and go straight, cross at the crosswalk and continue for about a minute, turn right at the corner of the Takasakiya restaurant, and the inn is on your left about a minute later. The inn will hold your car or bags before and after check-in.
