Ryoan Kazuki, Kyoto (2026): Noh Stage, Baths, Fees

Ryoan Kazuki Kyoto · Noh Stage, Baths
Guide·October 30, 2026·11 min read·Sourced & cross-checked

Ryoan Kazuki is a Japanese-style inn on Rokkaku Street in Nakagyo, central Kyoto, a short walk from the Shijo and Karasuma Oike subway stations. It says it is the only ryokan in Kyoto with a full Noh stage. Before you book, three things matter: the booking page is in Japanese only; the large baths are a Komyoseki artificial hot spring, not a natural onsen; and the official pages do not give a check-in time, so ask when you book.

We have not stayed there. Deliberately not stated: the check-in time, the tattoo rule, whether there is a private or open-air bath, the number and size of rooms, children’s prices, whether cards are accepted for stays, allergy options and any shuttle, none of which the official pages give.

The inn sits on Rokkaku Street, east of Higashinotoin, in the grid of central Kyoto. According to the access page:

  • Subway Shijo Station or Karasuma Oike Station (Exit 5): about 5 minutes on foot
  • Hankyu Karasuma Station: about 5 minutes on foot
  • Keihan Sanjo Station: about 15 minutes on foot, or 8 minutes by car
  • JR Kyoto Station: about 8 minutes by car or taxi

Is there parking or a shuttle?

Parking is free from check-in to checkout for up to 5 cars, and you must reserve a space ahead. Vehicles 6 meters long or 2.3 meters tall or more cannot be accepted. The official pages do not mention a shuttle. The inn is within walking distance of the food stalls covered in our Nishiki Market food guide.

The baths at Ryoan Kazuki

The inn’s bath page lists two bath areas, each with two sides. The men’s and women’s sides switch by day.

Bath areaSides and featuresHours
Sato-no-yu KakeiKoetsu: main bath, jacuzzi, mist sauna, aroma bath. Arashiyama: main bath, jacuzzi, waterfall shower15:00–24:00, 5:00–9:00
Gekka Teien-yuNonomiya: main bath, bubble bath, standing jet bath. Fuji: main bath, silky microbubble bath15:00–1:00, 5:00–9:00

Is it a natural hot spring?

No. The inn calls the water a Komyoseki artificial hot spring, a mineral bath made with ore. If a natural onsen is the reason for your trip, keep this in mind.

Can a bath area be closed?

The booking page notes that Kakei may be unavailable at times, for example when it is reserved, while Gekka Teien-yu is always available. A massage room is shown on the booking page as free.

Can I bathe with a tattoo?

The official pages do not mention tattoos, and they do not describe a private or open-air bath. Ask the inn before you book; our tattoo and onsen guide explains what to ask.

What are the rooms like?

The rooms are Japanese style, with seasonal flowers in the alcove. Each has a bath, a toilet with a bidet seat, a fridge, air conditioning and an electric kettle. Amenities include a yukata (a padded hanten jacket in winter), bath and face towels, toothbrush, cup, shower cap, razor, hair dryer and hairbrush. The official pages do not give the number of rooms, their size or how many guests each sleeps.

What else is in the building?

Besides the Noh stage, the inn lists four banquet rooms of different sizes, and an approach from a gate on Rokkaku Street lined with stones, fences and a thatched roof chosen by Kyoto gardeners, carpenters and masons.

What are dinner and breakfast like?

Dinner is a seasonal Kyoto kaiseki in the dining area. Breakfast is a Japanese breakfast or a half buffet; on breakfast-only plans, the booking page says you eat a Japanese breakfast in the restaurant or your room, depending on the date. The terms set dinner from 18:00 to 20:00 and breakfast from 7:00 to 8:30, and say these times can change.

Can the inn handle allergies or a special diet?

The official pages do not say. Tell the inn about allergies or a diet when you book, and confirm the reply.
