Kinkouroh (Kinkouroh, Home of Ibusuki’s “Koran-no-yu” Hot Springs) is a hot-spring hotel in Ibusuki, Kagoshima. The official site says every room faces Kinko Bay and Sakurajima, and the baths run on the inn’s own spring, free-flowing. Before you book, three things matter: only some rooms have an onsen bath of their own; the open-air bath is a paid private bath in the afternoon and shared by guests at night; and the free shuttle must be booked by phone by the day before.

Honto check: Every rule and figure below is from Kinkouroh’s official Japanese and English site and its official booking page, with the local taxes from Ibusuki City and the national government, read on October 15, 2026. We have not stayed there. Deliberately not stated: room prices and cancellation charges (shown only per plan on the booking page), the tattoo rule, the number of rooms, a curfew and vegetarian or halal options, none of which the official pages give. The official pages also differ on the last check-in time and the card brands accepted, so we leave those to the inn.

This is the choice that changes the stay most. The room pages list eight types, and only two have a bath filled with the hot spring. Every type has a TV, kettle, fridge, hair dryer, air purifier and a toilet with a bidet seat, and colored yukata are provided, including children’s sizes.

The baths at Kinkouroh

What kind of hot spring is it?

A sodium chloride spring from the inn’s own source, run free-flowing. The inn says it contains 287.5 mg of metasilicic acid, the component behind its “beautiful skin” name, and calls it the finest skin-beautifying spring in Ibusuki.

When is the large bath open?

The view bath on the 5th floor is open to guests from 15:00 to 25:00 (1:00 at night) and again from 5:00 to 10:00. Day visitors also use the baths in the afternoon and evening.

How does the open-air bath work?

From 15:00 to 18:00 it is a private bath for 1,870 yen per 45 minutes, the same price for guests and day visitors. From 19:00 to 24:00 and from 5:00 to 10:00, guests use it as a shared open-air bath.

Can I bathe with a tattoo?

The official pages, in Japanese and English, do not mention tattoos. Ask the inn before you book. Our tattoo and onsen guide explains what to ask.

Meals at Kinkouroh

What are dinner and breakfast like?

Dinner is a creative kaiseki course, served in the dining venue; the inn does not serve meals in rooms. The four courses center on Kagoshima’s black pork, black beef and black chicken, one of them a black pork sukiyaki. Dinner starts at 17:30, 18:00, 18:30, 19:00 or 19:30. Breakfast is a Japanese set with spiny lobster miso soup, sashimi, grilled fish and satsuma-age, at 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 or 8:30. Two children’s menus are offered.

On a plan without dinner, the inn says dinner must be reserved in advance.

Can the inn handle allergies or a special diet?

The inn says it will handle food allergies as far as it can, may have to decline some, and asks you to contact it in advance. Vegetarian and halal options are not mentioned.

Children, cancellation and payment at Kinkouroh

What do children cost?

A child under 3 sharing a bed is free; a preschool child aged 3 or over sharing a bed pays an 880-yen facility fee. Rates for older children are on each plan. The inn lists a baby bed at the large bath and seats families with small children in semi-private areas of the dining venue first.

What is the cancellation policy?

The official site does not give it. The booking page says each plan follows its own cancellation policy, so read it on your plan before you pay. See our hotel cancellation guide.

How do I pay, and what taxes apply?

The FAQ lists major credit cards, debit cards and a local payment service, but the official site and the booking page show different card brands, so confirm yours with the inn. Ibusuki City charges a bathing tax of 150 yen per night when the room rate is 6,001 yen or more (100 yen at 6,000 yen or less), and children under 12 are exempt. The pages do not say whether rates include it. A new accommodation tax of 200 yen per person per night is planned from April 1, 2027. See our onsen bathing tax guide.
