Garden Terrace Nagasaki Hotels & Resorts sits at 2-3 Akizuki-machi, Nagasaki, reached by the Mt. Inasa road, about 15 minutes from JR Nagasaki Station. Before you book, know five things: check-in is 16:00, an hour later than at many city hotels; the free shuttle leaves from the west exit of the station with no reservation; the infinity pool is for guests only and refuses guests with tattoos or who have been drinking; it closes for cleaning December 7 to 9; and the breakfast restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
The hotel publishes no terms of stay and no cancellation page, and its English version is a third-party translation that did not load for us. This page reads the Japanese official site. Where the hotel is silent, we say so.

What is Garden Terrace Nagasaki?
What kind of hotel is it?
A resort on the hillside facing Nagasaki Port, opened on July 2, 2009. The hotel’s company page credits the design to Kengo Kuma and Associates and lists the company as Memolead. The hotel describes every room as ocean view, with Nagasaki Port spread out in front, and bills the city view as one of the world’s new three great night views. For where it sits in the city, see our Nagasaki map.
How do I book or call?
The main number is 095-864-7777; the hotel also lists a navi-dial number, 0570-014-173, which carries call charges, and it does not say whether that number works from overseas phones. The rooms page lists the navi-dial for bookings and inquiries and says booking on the official site gives the most favorable deal. But a notice for one discount plan says bookings are taken on the official site only, not by phone. The two pages differ, so book online if you can.
Can I pay at the hotel?
At least one plan allows it: the instructions for a regional discount plan tell guests to choose payment at the hotel in the official booking screen. The hotel publishes no list of accepted cards. Through October 30, 2026, a Kumamoto recovery plan donates 1,000 yen per booking, half from the guest and half from the hotel, to Kumamoto through the Japanese Red Cross.
Getting to Garden Terrace Nagasaki: the free shuttle

Where does the shuttle leave from?
The free shuttle runs daily between JR Nagasaki Station and the hotel, for staying guests and restaurant guests, and takes about 15 minutes. It leaves from the general-vehicle drop-off area of the west exit rotary; the hotel says you cannot board at the east exit, and that the west exit is the side signposted for Dejima Messe and Hilton Nagasaki. No reservation is needed. Look for a blue microbus with the hotel’s name on it.
What is the timetable?
| Direction | Departures |
|---|---|
| From Nagasaki Station | 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00; 20:00 and 21:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only |
| From the hotel | 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 14:30, 16:30, 17:30, 18:30; 19:45 and 20:45 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only |
Official shuttle page, read October 5, 2026. The hotel’s holiday notice still refers to the 2025–26 New Year period.
At the hotel, staying guests board at the Royal Terrace building. If you miss the shuttle, the hotel says a taxi from the station also takes about 15 minutes.
How do I get there from Nagasaki Airport?
The hotel offers no direct airport transfer. It suggests the airport limousine bus from stop No. 5 to Nagasaki Station, about 50 minutes, then the shuttle or a taxi. We leave out bus fares and timetables, which the hotel does not list.
Can I drive?
Yes, but read the warnings. The hotel gives about 15 minutes from JR Nagasaki Station via the Mt. Inasa road, and about 50 minutes from Nagasaki Airport via the Nagasaki Expressway. It says the road has many slopes and curves and is fairly narrow, and that some car navigation systems do not list the hotel. If you cannot find it, the hotel suggests searching for the Kakubuen nursing home across the road from the entrance. The resort map marks a parking lot, but the hotel publishes no number of spaces and no fee.
Check-in, checkout and booking rules at Garden Terrace Nagasaki
What time are check-in and checkout?
Check-in is from 16:00 and checkout is by 12:00 noon, the rooms page says. Check-in is an hour later than the 15:00 common at city hotels in Japan, so if you arrive early, plan around the shuttle timetable above. The hotel publishes no late checkout or early check-in fee, and no time after which a booking lapses if you arrive late.
What is the cancellation policy?
Our hotel cancellation guide explains how these fees work across Japan.
Are taxes and service included?
The hotel does not say. Its website publishes no service charge and no accommodation tax for rooms, so check the total on the booking screen. Its activity prices are mixed: some are marked as including tax and service, others as including tax only.
Rooms at Garden Terrace Nagasaki: suites with terraces

How are the buildings different?
The rooms are spread across the Grand Terrace main building, the cottage buildings and the newer Royal Terrace wing. Every room type the hotel lists is a suite with a private terrace. The hotel files the main-building Garden Suite under a tab called “Standard,” although it starts at 53 square meters, so we use the room names below.
| Room type | Building | Rooms | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ocean Suite | Cottage, single story | 6 | 46.09–54.38 m² |
| Harbor Suite | Royal Terrace, 1F–2F | 8 | 50.05 m² |

| Royal Suite | Royal Terrace, 5F | 1 | 100.09 m² (151.63 with connecting room) |
Official rooms page (Japanese), read October 5, 2026. Rates are left out on purpose; the hotel does not give a total room count.
So the smallest room the hotel lists is about 46 square meters. The Garden Suite and Harbor Suite data list twin beds 140 cm wide; the Harbor Suite has a jet bath, and the Royal Suite has an outdoor jacuzzi on its terrace. The hotel says the harbor night view from the bathroom is special too.
Can I smoke?
Not inside. Every room type is listed as non-smoking, but the hotel puts an ashtray on each private terrace, and smoking is allowed on the terrace. The French restaurant Forest is non-smoking with a smoking room.
What is in the room?
The hotel lists free Wi-Fi and wired internet, bathrobes, free mineral water, room service and a laundry service, and rain showers in the main building and Ocean Suites. You can borrow a baby bed and a voltage transformer. Room capacities, extra beds and bed-sharing rules are not stated by the hotel.
The Garden Terrace Nagasaki infinity pool, sauna and gym
Who can use the pool, and when?
The 20-meter infinity pool looks over Nagasaki Port and the city. It is 20 by 5 meters and 1.3 meters deep, open 7:00 to 24:00, and for hotel guests only. The page says staying guests can use it freely and sets no fee for them. Swimsuits can be rented for a fee, in limited numbers. The pool may close in bad weather or when there is lightning. Compare other hotels in our hotel pool fees guide.
When is the pool closed for cleaning?
The hotel cleans the pool four times a year. The next closures are December 7 to 9, 2026, March 8 to 10, 2027, and June 7 to 9, 2027. During these dates the infinity pool cannot be used, but the club lounge, gym and sauna in the guests-only VIEW TERRACE building next to it stay open.
What about the sauna and gym?
Both are open 7:00 to 24:00. The gym has an exercise bike, two treadmills and a multi-gym, and there is a dry sauna, SORA, and a mist sauna, SHIZUKU. You must wear a swimsuit in the sauna; swimsuits, training wear and shoes can be rented for a fee. Children 12 and under can use them until 20:00. The hotel states its tattoo rule only for the pool, not for the sauna or gym, so ask. Our tattoos and onsen guide covers the wider picture.
Is there a lounge, an onsen or a spa?
The guests-only club lounge is open 9:00 to 24:00; children 12 and under can use it until 20:00 with a guardian. The website mentions no onsen or large public bath; bathing is in your room. The hotel’s spa page announces that its in-house spa, SPA RICH, has closed.
Dining and breakfast at Garden Terrace Nagasaki
Where is breakfast, and what about Tuesdays?
Breakfast is at Senzanbansui, the Kyushu-cuisine restaurant, from 7:30, last order 10:00, closing at 10:30. The hotel publishes no breakfast price.
Which restaurant is closed on which day?

Each restaurant takes bookings by phone only. Forest and Senzanbansui ask guests not to come in shorts, running shirts or beach sandals. Forest has a children’s menu.
Can the kitchen handle allergies or vegetarian meals?
For allergies, yes, with notice. The menus do not list allergens, but on request the hotel can prepare a menu marking the seven main allergens, which it calls the seven specified ingredients (egg, milk, wheat, shrimp, crab, buckwheat and peanut) or a menu without them. Contact the hotel at least 7 days before. You may also bring your own safe food, such as retort or frozen meals. The hotel says nothing about vegetarian or halal meals.

Kids at Garden Terrace Nagasaki

Who Garden Terrace Nagasaki suits
The official pages point to couples and travelers who want an ocean view from every room, a terrace, an infinity pool over the harbor, and a Kengo Kuma building, and who do not mind getting there by shuttle. It is a harder fit for travelers with tattoos who want the pool, guests arriving at the station between 13:30 and 16:00, anyone staying on a Tuesday who needs a firm breakfast plan, and anyone who wants the cancellation rules in writing before opening the booking screen.
