HOSHINOYA Okinawa (2026): Typhoon Plan, Pool, Fees

Guide·October 10, 2026·18 min read·Sourced & cross-checked

HOSHINOYA Okinawa stands at 474 Gima, Yomitan, Okinawa, with all 100 rooms on the ground floor facing the sea. Before you book, know five things: there is no onsen or large public bath, but the pool is open 24 hours a day, all year; tattoos are allowed in the pool, though staff may ask you to wear a rash guard you bring yourself; the 2026 Typhoon Peace-of-Mind plan covers official-site bookings made at least 5 days ahead; there is no free shuttle; and meals cost extra.

One warning before the numbers. The English pages show restaurant and activity prices before tax and the 10 percent service charge; the Japanese pages show them with tax and service included. So the same breakfast reads 4,380 yen in English and 5,300 yen in Japanese. On this page, we say which each price is.

Honto check: Every rule and figure below is from Hoshino Resorts’ official HOSHINOYA Okinawa pages in English and Japanese: the hotel, access, dining, activity, spa, kids room, contact and pool pages, plus the group’s tattoo policy, cancellation FAQ and 2026 typhoon plan, read on October 5, 2026. We have not stayed there, and we did not read the booking screen. Deliberately not stated: room rates; plan-specific cancellation fees; whether HOSHINOYA Okinawa offers the group’s FleBOL flexible rate; any service charge or accommodation tax on the room, which the hotel pages do not mention; airport bus fares and timetables; spa and activity prices; pool rules for children and whether there is a lifeguard; the allergy policy text; and whether front desk staff speak English.

What is HOSHINOYA Okinawa?

What kind of resort is it?

The Okinawa property of HOSHINOYA, a Hoshino Resorts brand. The official page says every suite and villa is on the ground floor so the ocean is always in sight, and each has an indoor patio for dining and conversation. The Japanese page describes the site as running along 1 km of natural coastline, protected by a stone “gusuku wall.” There are 100 rooms, three restaurants, a cafe or lounge, a spa, a playroom and one pool. For how HOSHINOYA compares with the group’s other brands, see our Hoshino Resorts guide.

How do I contact the hotel?

Phone reservations are on +81-50-3134-8096, open 9:30 to 18:00. From 18:00 to 9:30, the night and emergency number is +81-98-921-6800. Pets are not allowed. The Japanese room notes say the whole property is non-smoking, and the English notes leave that line out, but the Hoshino Resorts FAQ says some room types at HOSHINOYA Okinawa have a garden or terrace where guests may smoke outdoors. Rooms themselves are non-smoking, e-cigarettes included; ask the hotel which applies to your room.

Getting to HOSHINOYA Okinawa from Naha Airport

How long is the drive?

The Japanese access page says about 60 minutes from Naha Airport by the Okinawa Expressway, leaving at the Okinawa-minami interchange toward Kadena. The English page lists the same route, via the Nishihara interchange, and puts “around 30 min.” next to the expressway leg. By National Route 58, both pages say about 70 minutes. The official mapcode for car navigation is 1005 626 090*38.

Is there a free shuttle?

No free shuttle: the hotel lists an airport limousine bus from Naha Airport to HOSHINOYA Okinawa, marked not complimentary. It runs by reservation through the express bus booking site Japan Bus Online, and the hotel warns you may not get a seat if it is full, so book early. Bus inquiries go to 098-869-3301, 8:00 to 17:30.

The hotel does not list the fare or timetable, so we leave them out. For other ways onto the island, see our how to get to Okinawa guide.

What other transfer options are there?

Three, all paid. The hotel’s partner rental car has its own counter near Naha Airport; the Japanese page asks you to apply by the day before you arrive. A partner chauffeured car from the airport is listed only on the Japanese page, to be booked 2 days ahead. And a helicopter taxi from Naha Airport is booked through the Z-Leg website.

Is parking free?

Yes. Parking is free and outdoors, and the Japanese page says no reservation is needed. There is no EV charging.

Rooms at HOSHINOYA Okinawa: suites and villas

Which room types are there?

RoomSizeGuestsWhat the hotel highlights
Haru88–94 m²1–4Living room on a covered terrace facing the ocean; four 100 x 200 cm beds
Fushi93–94 m²1–4Indoor patio looking out to the ocean, living room with low furniture; four 100 x 200 cm beds
Tida (villa)256–258 m²1–4Private pool and a terrace connecting directly to the beach

Official room pages (English and Japanese), read October 5, 2026. These are the three types shown on the pages we read. Rates are left out on purpose.

All three have a bathtub, a separate toilet with a washlet, and room wear for adults and children. The hotel says you cannot choose a specific room, and the number of guests cannot be changed after the booking is confirmed, so book for the right number from the start. Free Wi-Fi covers all rooms and some public areas.

How do I pay?

Online, the English page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club and JCB. At the hotel, it takes cash and credit cards, including UnionPay. The Japanese page adds some payment methods for Japanese residents.

The HOSHINOYA Okinawa pool, beach and tattoo rules

When is the pool open?

24 hours a day, so you can swim under the night sky or at sunrise, the official page says, and it is kept at a comfortable temperature all year. It is built as four connected areas with different water depths. The page does not mention a fee, rules for children or a lifeguard.

Can I swim with tattoos?

Yes, with one condition. Hoshino Resorts’ policy, linked from the pool page, says it does not restrict facility use because of tattoos, out of respect for guests’ cultural backgrounds. But if staff think tattoos may make other guests uncomfortable, they may ask you to wear a rash guard or similar swimwear to cover them.

Bring your own rash guard: the English policy asks guests to bring suitable swimwear in advance, because rash guards are not provided on site. The Japanese policy does not include that line, so pack one if you have tattoos.

With no onsen or large public bath, the tattoo question here is about the pool. Our tattoos and onsen guide covers how other hotels handle this.

Can I swim at the beach?

Not really in front of the rooms. Gima Beach, the natural shore below the resort, is described as a rocky shore for strolling. For swimming, the hotel points to Nirai Beach, with Okinawa’s shallow water, 10 minutes on foot.

Is there a spa?

Yes, in a separate building with a red tiled roof, open 9:00 to 23:30, with treatments in Japanese and English by nationally certified staff. The spa page gives the age as 18 or older, while a note on the same page says some body treatments are available from 16. Prices are not listed on the page we read.

The HOSHINOYA Okinawa typhoon plan and cancellation rules

What does the 2026 Typhoon Peace-of-Mind plan cover?

Hoshino Resorts runs a typhoon plan for HOSHINOYA Okinawa and some other properties, for stays from check-in on May 31, 2026, to check-out on December 1, 2026. To be covered, you must book on the official website at least 5 days ahead. Bookings that include airline tickets are not covered.

If this happensThe plan says
A typhoon makes your outbound or return flight eligible for a cancellation-fee waiver, or your ferry is canceledHotel cancellation fee waived
The 15:00 Japan Meteorological Agency forecast on your stay day puts the hotel in the typhoon storm zone by noon the next dayThat night’s room rate 50% off the regular rate
A flight cancellation makes you stay a night early or extendThat night at 50% off the regular room rate

Official 2026 Typhoon Peace-of-Mind plan (English and Japanese match), read October 5, 2026. For HOSHINOYA Okinawa, the storm-zone cutoff is noon; other properties use 11:00.

A stay that checks out by December 1 is still in the window at publication. For the season itself, see our typhoon season in Japan guide.

What does it cost to cancel?

Check your plan: Hoshino Resorts says cancellation policies vary by hotel and rate, and the policy for your booking is shown when you book. The Japanese FAQ adds that some plans cannot be canceled at all. We did not read the booking screen.

The group’s FAQ waives cancellation fees in some cases, including a special warning from the Japan Meteorological Agency for the hotel’s area on your check-in or check-out date, a train or flight canceled without charge because of a natural disaster, a highway closure that stops you reaching the hotel, and a one-time date change for fever or illness, within 90 days of the original check-in. The group also sells a flexible rate called FleBOL at some HOSHINOYA hotels; we could not confirm that it applies here. Our hotel cancellation guide compares policies across Japan.

Check-in, meals and prices at HOSHINOYA Okinawa

What time are check-in and checkout?

Check-in is from 15:00 and checkout is by 12:00 noon. The hotel publishes no early check-in or late checkout fee. To send luggage ahead, write the check-in date and the main guest’s name on the delivery slip.

How much is breakfast?

MealAdultChildren
Breakfast in the dining room (7:00, last order 9:30)5,300 yen (ages 7+)2,650 yen (4–6); free at 3 and under
In-room breakfast (7:00 to 10:00)4,235 yen1,936 yen (4–6)
Dinner, Ryukyu Gastronomia Bellezza (from 17:00)24,200 yen (12+)7,865 yen (7–11); 4,235 yen (4–6)

Official dining page in Japanese, prices including tax and the 10% service charge, read October 5, 2026. The English page shows them before tax and service, for example breakfast at 4,380 yen and dinner at 20,000 yen.

Breakfast must be booked by the day before, and canceling breakfast or dinner on the day costs 100 percent. You need a confirmed room booking before you can book a meal. For dinner, the Japanese page sets the adult price from age 12, while the English page says over 12; we follow the Japanese.

What other dining options are there?

A “gathering” dinner is delivered to the room between 16:00 and 19:00 for you to finish yourselves; book by 17:00 that day, and the page lists no price. A late-night in-room menu runs from 21:00 to 23:59 with no booking. An autumn dessert course runs October 1 to November 26, 2026, at 9,680 yen including tax and service, and an afternoon tea from December 12, 2026, to February 28, 2027, at 8,000 yen including tax and service.

Can the kitchen handle allergies?

We cannot say. The dining page links to an allergy policy that we did not read, and the seasonal menus state that they cannot accommodate allergies. The pages say nothing about vegetarian or halal meals, so ask before you book.

Kids at HOSHINOYA Okinawa

Can children share a bed?

Yes. Children under 12 can share a bed, up to the room’s capacity of four. The Japanese room pages say bed-sharing comes without meals or bedding, and the English page asks you to register the child in the “Age 0-3” band when booking. Children’s breakfast is 2,650 yen at 4 to 6, including tax and service, and free at 3 and under. Compare other hotels in our kids stay free guide.

Is there childcare?

Yes. The kids room takes children 12 and under, from 17,380 yen per child including tax and service, which the English page shows as 14,364 yen before tax and service. Book 7 days ahead. Canceling 4 to 2 days before costs 50 percent, and from 17:00 the day before, 100 percent. It is hosted in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.

What about baby food and age limits?

The hotel stocks commercial baby food by age, and you may bring your own. The Japanese page prices it at 605 yen each and says staff cannot warm it. Some activities have age limits: morning horse riding from 3, the Okinawa ocean experience from 10, a Blue Cave private tour for ages 6 to 74, and a Ryukyu karate stay from 16.

Who HOSHINOYA Okinawa suits

The official pages point to couples and families who want a large ground-floor suite on the sea, a pool open around the clock all year, and a tattoo policy that does not turn them away. Families with children under 12 can share beds, and drivers park free. It is a harder fit for anyone who wants an onsen, a free airport shuttle or a swimming beach at the door, or who books through a package with flights, which the typhoon plan does not cover.
