Hotel Granvia Hiroshima is the JR West hotel at 1-5 Matsubara-cho, Minami-ku, connected to the Shinkansen Exit of JR Hiroshima Station. Before you book, know five rules: check-in is from 14:00, but the booking may lapse if you are not there by 10 p.m. and have not called; under the standard terms, canceling the day before costs 20 percent; children of elementary school age pay the adult rate; the hotel has no car park of its own; and it closes completely on the night of February 17, 2027.
The hotel’s English site is a machine translation of the Japanese, and its terms say the Japanese text is the official one, so we work from the Japanese pages and say where they disagree with each other.

Official room pages (Japanese), read October 5, 2026. Rates are left out on purpose.
The brochure gives older room sizes for some floors; we use the current website. The Granvia Deluxe Twin and Executive Twin have a separate bath and toilet. Tsudoi-4B is a family and group room with four Simmons pocket-coil beds, a separate toilet, and a large bathroom with a shower booth and a washing area. Standard rooms use a shower screen instead of a curtain, and most have USB outlets by the pillow.
Can I get a non-smoking room?
Yes, but check the floor. The room pages list smoking rooms on the 11th floor for the Standard Semi-Double and Standard Twin. The Superior, Granvia and Tsudoi-4B floors (19, 20 and 5) are non-smoking only. If you book a standard semi-double or twin and want to avoid smoke, say so when you book.
What is in the room?
The service page lists body soap, shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush set, a razor, a comb, slippers, pajamas, cotton swabs, cotton pads and towels, plus an Amenity Bar beside the front desk where you pick extra items. Free items to borrow include a plug adapter, a humidifier, a phone charger, an umbrella, extra-large pajamas, children’s pajamas and slippers, a bed guard and a baby bed; the hotel says they are limited in number. All rooms have Wi-Fi and wired internet, and the booking engine lists the Wi-Fi as free.
Check-in, checkout and late arrival at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima

What time are check-in and checkout?
Check-in is from 14:00 and checkout is by 12:00 noon, per Article 9 of the JR West Hotels terms of stay. That is an hour earlier than at Hotel Granvia Kyoto, which the same table lists at 15:00. The brochure, in Japanese and English, adds that groups of eight or more check in from 15:00. Guests in lounge-access rooms can check in at the 21st-floor lounge instead of the front desk, and an automatic checkout machine is available.
What if I arrive late?
How much does late checkout cost?
No yen price is published. Article 9 says the hotel may agree to let you use the room outside the set hours, and charges a share of the room rate:
| Room used until | Extra charge |
|---|---|
| 15:00 (up to 3 hours over) | 30% of the room rate |
| 18:00 (up to 6 hours over) | 50% of the room rate |
| After 18:00 | The room rate in full |
Article 9 of the JR West Hotels terms of stay, read October 5, 2026.
“May” means it is not guaranteed, so ask at the front desk. Our late checkout guide compares how other hotels in Japan charge.
What do I need at check-in?
Article 8 says the hotel asks foreign guests who do not live in Japan to show a passport, and copies and keeps it, following Japanese government guidance. The hotel rules say a deposit is taken if you have no reservation, if you booked the day before or on the day, or if your contact number is a mobile phone. On longer stays, the rules ask you to settle the bill every three days, or sooner if the total passes 100,000 yen. The cloakroom holds bags before check-in and after checkout; luggage sent ahead is kept only if the hotel agreed before it arrived.
Canceling a Hotel Granvia Hiroshima booking
What does it cost to cancel?
These are the standard JR West Hotels terms, from Attached Table 2, for bookings of up to seven guests:
| When you cancel | Up to 7 guests |
|---|---|
| Two or more days before | No charge listed |
| Day before | 20% |
| On the day | 80% |
| No-show | 100% |
Attached Table 2 of the terms of stay and the legal notice, read October 5, 2026. Groups of eight or more have their own scale.
The percentages are of the basic room rate. If you cut a stay short, the terms charge the penalty for one night, the first, however many nights you drop. Bookings made through a travel agency follow that agency’s terms. Our hotel cancellation guide explains how these fees work across Japan.
What about Shinkansen and hotel packages?
The hotel sells train-and-hotel packages through Nippon Travel Agency’s site, and says questions, changes and cancellations for those packages go to Nippon Travel Agency, not the hotel. Article 20 of the terms says the Japanese text is the official version and translations have no legal effect.
Breakfast at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima: prices and hours
How much is breakfast?
| Dish Parade buffet (2nd floor) | Price |
|---|---|
| Adults | 3,700 yen |
| Ages 6 to 12 | 1,800 yen |
| Ages 4 and 5 | 750 yen |
| Ages 3 and under | Free |
Official breakfast page, read October 5, 2026. Prices include consumption tax and the 15% service charge; special prices apply January 2 to 4.
The Japanese and Western buffet at Dish Parade, a cafe and buffet restaurant on the 2nd floor, runs 6:30 to 10:00; all seats are non-smoking and wheelchair accessible. The hotel lists local dishes such as Hiroshima okonomiyaki, anago-meshi (conger eel on rice) and soupless dan dan noodles, and a vegetarian menu with a soy-meat patty, falafel and a plant-based curry. Compare other hotels in our hotel breakfast prices guide.
Are there other places to eat breakfast?
The Japanese restaurant Setouchi, also on the 2nd floor, serves a set Japanese breakfast and a small buffet of home-style dishes from 7:00 to 10:00 at the same prices, but only on irregular days. Guests with lounge access can eat in the Granvia Lounge from 7:00 to 10:00.
Kids and families at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima
Can children share a bed for free?
Preschoolers can. The booking engine says preschool children can share a bed, one per adult, and asks you to tell the hotel in the booking’s request field. It also says children of elementary school age and older pay the adult rate. The hotel does not say whether a child sharing a bed pays for breakfast, so ask; the breakfast prices above are by age.
Why does the search box say elementary school children are not accepted?
The search box on the hotel’s website shows the child field as elementary school children not accepted. Read with the booking engine, this means there is no separate child rate: book children of elementary school age as adults. It does not mean children cannot stay, and the booking engine has a field for elementary school children.
Are cribs and baby supplies available?
Yes. A baby bed, a bed guard, children’s pajamas and slippers, and a non-slip bath mat are free to borrow, while they last, so request them early. A baby care corner on the 1st floor is a private, lockable room for nursing and diaper changes, with a microwave and a sink; ask the lobby staff to use it.
Which room fits three or four?
The Standard, Superior and Granvia twins are listed for up to three, with an extra bed mentioned for the Standard and Granvia twins, and the hotel publishes no extra-bed price, so ask when booking. Tsudoi-4B (66 m², four beds) and the Granvia Executive Twin are listed for up to four. In the lounge, minors must be with a parent or guardian, and the hotel says small children are welcome.
Hotel Granvia Hiroshima facilities: lounge, gym and laundry
Is there a pool or large bath?
No pool or large public bath is listed. The floor guide and facilities pages do not list a pool, public bath, sauna or spa. For relaxation, the hotel offers in-room massage from 19:00 to 25:00, last booking at 24:00.
Is there a gym?
Yes. G-Fitness, on basement level 1, is for staying guests only. The hotel’s pages give no hours, fees or age limits for it, so ask at the front desk.
Who can use the Granvia Lounge?
Guests in eligible rooms on lounge-access plans on the 5th, 18th, 19th and 20th floors; the hotel says access comes with the room and plan, not otherwise. Companions on a lounge plan can join for a visitor fee set by the hotel. The lounge, renovated in March 2025, looks down on the Shinkansen tracks and, the hotel says, as far as Miyajima. Its service runs in set periods:
| Period | Hours |
|---|---|
| Breakfast | 7:00 to 10:00 |
| Tea time | 10:00 to 12:00 |
| Afternoon | 14:00 to 17:00 |
| Cocktail hour | 17:00 to 20:00 |
| Refreshments | 20:00 to 21:00 |
Official Granvia Lounge page, read October 5, 2026.
Is there laundry and currency exchange?
The laundry service is closed on Sundays. Items handed in by 9:30 come back at 17:00 the same day; items handed in from 9:30 to 16:00 come back at 17:00 the next day, or at 10:30 the next day for a 50 percent surcharge. The pages do not mention a coin laundry. A currency exchange machine beside the 1st-floor front desk works 24 hours and takes 12 currencies, including US dollars, euros, pounds and Chinese yuan; the hotel notes it cannot exchange Japanese yen. The concierge desk in the 1st-floor lobby is open 9:00 to 18:00, and wheelchairs are available for use inside the hotel.
Is the rooftop beer garden open?
Until October 17, 2026. A tenant runs a barbecue beer garden on the 22nd-floor rooftop from May 15 to October 17, 2026, Monday to Saturday and the day before holidays, 16:00 to 22:00 (last entry 21:00).
Getting to Hotel Granvia Hiroshima: station, airport and sights

Is it really connected to Hiroshima Station?
Yes, to the Shinkansen Exit (Shinkansen-guchi) side. The hotel’s directions: from the Shinkansen gates, turn left; from the Central Gate of the conventional JR lines, turn left; from the streetcar stop, go straight. Follow the signs to the hotel’s 2nd-floor entrance, then go down to the front desk on the 1st floor. The hotel says the connection keeps you dry on rainy days.
How do I get there from Hiroshima Airport?
By airport limousine bus, about 50 minutes, according to the hotel’s access page, which adds that traffic can change the time. The bus stop at the Shinkansen Exit is about 2 minutes on foot from the hotel entrance. An older English brochure says 45 minutes; we use the newer website figure. The hotel does not list the fare.
How far are the Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima?
The hotel gives the Atomic Bomb Dome as about 15 minutes by bus, so plan on the bus; for the park and museum, see our Hiroshima Peace Memorial guide. The hotel puts the Great Torii of Itsukushima Shrine at about 1 hour by train and ferry; our Hiroshima to Miyajima guide covers the routes. Closer by, the hotel lists Shukkeien Garden at about 9 minutes and Mazda Stadium at about 15 minutes on foot.
Is there parking?
Not at the hotel. The parking page says Hotel Granvia Hiroshima has no car park of its own, and lists two partner car parks, where hotel guests pay 1,600 yen a night, for 24 hours from entry:
| Partner car park | Spaces | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Times JR Hiroshima Station North Exit multistory car park | 743 | About 70 meters from the 2nd-floor passage to the hotel |
| Times JR Hiroshima Station South Exit Minamoa car park | 506 | Same vehicle limits |
Official parking page, read October 5, 2026. Vehicles up to 2.1 m high, 5.0 m long, 1.9 m wide and 2.5 tonnes.
Tell the front desk at check-in that you used a partner car park. Past 24 hours, the normal rate is added, and if you drive out and come back, the re-entry is at your own cost. The outdoor Times Hiroshima Station North Exit lot is not a partner for hotel guests.
Can I charge an electric car?
Since October 1, 2026, the hotel has one 6 kW standard charger, by reservation only, in a parking space at the west entrance. It costs 2,500 yen a night, parking included, from 14:00 on the day of arrival to 12:00 the next day for a one-night stay. It is not a rapid charger. Booking needs your hotel reservation number, through the reservations desk on 082-262-1111, 9:00 to 18:00.
Taxes, service charge and house rules at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima
What is included in the price?
The terms add a 15 percent service charge to the room rate, and the JR West Hotels legal notice says that for Granvia hotels, listed prices include tax and the 15 percent service charge. The one thing they leave out is the accommodation tax, which you pay at the front desk on the day you stay.
How much is the Hiroshima accommodation tax?
The tax is set by Hiroshima Prefecture. As the hotel lists it, it started on April 1, 2026, and is 200 yen per person per night when the room rate is 6,000 yen or more before tax, counting the room only, without meals or consumption tax. The hotel says it is not included in the room price. We have not checked this against the prefecture’s own pages, so confirm with Hiroshima Prefecture for the current rules.
How do I pay?
The legal notice lists two ways: pay at the front desk in cash, by credit card or with gift certificates, or pay online by credit card in full when you book. The hotel’s pages do not list which card brands it accepts. The terms cap the hotel’s liability at 300,000 yen for undeclared valuables left at the front desk and 150,000 yen for items you keep yourself.
Can I bring a pet?
No. The hotel rules ban dogs, cats, birds and other animals, except guide dogs, hearing dogs and service dogs.
Which house rules surprise foreign guests?
The rules say food delivery from outside the hotel is not allowed, so delivery apps are out. Do not leave your room in nightwear, a yukata, a bathrobe or slippers, and do not invite visitors in to use the room. A JR West Hotels notice in English asks, “If leaving your room to go anywhere else, please unplug the power bank from all outlets first”; staff may unplug and move one for safety. The hotel has also posted a warning about suspicious WhatsApp messages and emails pretending to be from Booking.com.
When is Hotel Granvia Hiroshima closed?
Which night can I not stay?
Guests checking out on February 17 can use their room until the 12:00 checkout time, with no late checkout. Guests checking in on February 18 can check in from 14:00 as usual. If your Hiroshima trip covers that night, book the night of February 17 somewhere else.
Who Hotel Granvia Hiroshima suits

The official rules point to rail travelers, with a direct link to the Shinkansen gates; airport arrivals, with the limousine bus stop about 2 minutes away; and families with babies, given free cribs and a baby care corner. It is a harder fit for drivers, since parking is off-site; for anyone who wants a pool or large bath; for families with school-age children, who pay the adult rate; and for travelers in Hiroshima on the night of February 17, 2027.
