Yojokan Haru no Hikari is a small inn in Hakone-Yumoto Onsen, Kanagawa, that invites guests to relax as if they were at home, in a valley long known for hot-spring cures. Before you book, three things matter: Haru no Hikari serves breakfast only, with no dinner; the building has stairs and no elevator; and the last shared bus leaves at 16:15, so plan your afternoon around it.

Meals at Haru no Hikari: breakfast only, so eat in Hakone-Yumoto town

Is dinner served?

No. Both the room-only and the breakfast plans state that no dinner is provided. That makes Haru no Hikari different from many ryokan, where dinner is part of the stay. The easy answer is to eat in Hakone-Yumoto town near the station before you head to the inn, and to buy anything you want for the evening at the same time. Note that the inn does not allow coolers or ice boxes to be brought in. Our things to do in Hakone guide covers the area.

What is breakfast like?

The breakfast plan includes a Japanese breakfast built around freshly cooked rice. The breakfast time is given at check-in.

Can the inn handle allergies or a special diet?

The official pages do not say. If you have an allergy or follow a special diet, contact the inn before you book.

Which room should you choose at Haru no Hikari?

The booking page sells four room types. Every room is non-smoking; smoking is outside only.

RoomWhat the official pages list

Japanese-Western twin with private study (4th floor)Same layout as the 3rd-floor room

From the official rooms page and booking page, read October 20, 2026.

The baths at Haru no Hikari

What is the hot spring like?

The water is a simple hot spring, mildly alkaline at pH 8.4. The tub is divided so the water cools step by step, from the hot section by the spout to a gentler one. The baths are swapped between men and women.

When are the baths open?

The official pages do not give bath hours. Ask at check-in.

Can I bathe with a tattoo?

The official pages do not mention tattoos. The baths are shared, so ask the inn before you book. Our tattoo and onsen guide explains what to ask.
