Hotel Luna Park is a hotel in the middle of Dogo Onsen, Matsuyama, about one minute on foot from Dogo Onsen Honkan. It has a main building and an annex, an indoor bath and a rooftop open-air bath fed by water piped from Oku-Dogo, and Japanese, Western and mixed rooms for one to seven people. Before you book, three things matter: guests with tattoos cannot use the baths; the latest check-in is 19:30 on plans with dinner (22:00 for room only); and cancellation fees start 5 days before your stay.

Honto check: Every rule and figure below is from Hotel Luna Park’s official Japanese site and its official booking page, plus Matsuyama City for the bathing tax, read on October 14, 2026. We have not stayed there. Deliberately not stated: the walking time from the tram station and the breakfast room, which differ between official pages; the total number of rooms and the hotel’s history, which the site does not give; English-speaking staff; and the routes from the airport and JR station, which the site shows only as images. Ask the hotel about these.

The Oku-Dogo hot-spring baths at Hotel Luna Park

When are the baths open?

The hotel pipes in water from Oku-Dogo Onsen. The indoor bath on the 3rd floor of the main building is open 15:00 to 10:00 the next morning, so you can bathe from check-in to checkout. The open-air bath on the top floor of the annex is open 6:00–10:00 and 15:00–23:30. The men’s side has a ceramic tub and a rock bath; the women’s side has a rock bath, a goemon-style iron-pot tub and a half-open-air bath. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided.

Is there a private bath?

The official pages do not mention a private (reservable) bath. Each room has its own tub and shower, but the FAQ says the room baths do not use hot-spring water.

Can I bathe with a tattoo?

No. The bath page says the hotel does not allow guests with tattoos in the baths, and it does not mention cover stickers. Phones are not allowed in the changing rooms or baths. Our tattoo and onsen guide explains what to ask elsewhere.

The plan pages invite guests to try both the hotel’s Oku-Dogo water and Dogo Onsen itself, and one plan, the Dogo value plan, includes a ticket for the Kami-no-Yu bath at Dogo Onsen Honkan for each adult.

The nearest stop is Dogo Onsen Station on the Iyotetsu city tram; the walking time differs between official pages, so allow a few minutes. From Matsuyama Airport, the FAQ suggests the limousine bus to Dogo Onsen Station and a walk from there. The hotel has no airport pickup. Routes from JR Matsuyama Station and the ferry port are shown only as images on the access page.

Drivers park on site for 700 yen per car per night, with room for up to 60 cars; cars may not be able to enter or leave between 22:00 and 7:00. After checkout you can leave the car until about 12:00 for free.

Meals at Hotel Luna Park

What are dinner and breakfast like?

Dinner is a Japanese course built around Ehime sea bream: sashimi, simmered sea-bream head and sea-bream rice cooked in a small pot, with a live-grilled abalone on the standard plan and Iyo beef or lobster on the premium plans. It is served in a dining room or restaurant from 18:00, with the last start at 20:00. Drinks at dinner are ordered on your own smartphone, so bring it with you. Guests staying two nights get a different menu on the second night.

Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet from 7:00 to 9:00 (last order 8:30), which may be switched to a Japanese set meal depending on the day; a pancake machine was added in August 2026. Room-only guests can ask the front desk for the hotel’s map of places to eat nearby, and our Matsuyama food guide covers the local dishes.

Can the hotel handle allergies or a special diet?

The FAQ says it can handle allergies and vegetarian requests, but not in every case, so ask the hotel before you book.
