Swissotel Nankai Osaka is the tower that stands on top of Nankai Namba Station, which makes it the hotel closest to the airport train in central Osaka: the Rapi:t from Kansai International Airport arrives underneath it in about 35 minutes, and Dotonbori is a few streets north. It is an Accor hotel with an unusually complete English rulebook, and the rules worth knowing before you book are these: check-in 15:00, checkout 11:00, free cancellation until 18:00 the day before on the flexible rate, children 12 and under free in a parent’s bed, an extra bed at 10,000 yen, a 15,000-yen smoking fine plus two nights’ cleaning, and a pool closed to children under 6.
Everything below is from the hotel’s official English site: the FAQ, the Hotel Services A-Z, the spa, executive-lounge and access pages. Room rates are not here; the fees, hours and rules the hotel publishes are.

What is Swissotel Nankai Osaka, and which room should I book?

A high-rise above the Nankai railway’s Namba terminal and the Takashimaya department store, with the main lobby on the sixth floor (front desk, assistant manager on duty 24 hours, currency exchange, safe-deposit boxes and an ATM), restaurants on the 6th, 10th and 36th floors, and the Purovel spa on the 11th. Rooms run from Swiss Advantage through Swiss Select to the Swiss Executive floors on 32 to 34 and suites (Deluxe, Prestige, Imperial). Executive rooms and suites come with lounge access and a complimentary minibar set; other rooms order minibar items on demand. Connecting rooms exist in small numbers and accessible rooms are available; both are arranged with the reservations team before booking online.
Which rooms can take an extra bed?
All twin rooms can, booked by selecting three adults online. Among queen and king rooms, some larger ones can, but the Swiss Advantage Queen and King, Swiss Select Queen and King, and Swiss Executive King cannot, for fire-safety reasons. An extra bed is 10,000 yen per night unless three or more adults are booked; in Executive rooms and above the extra-bed charge includes lounge access.
What is the Swiss Executive Lounge?
A lounge on the 33rd floor for Executive-room and selected suite guests: breakfast 7:30 to 10:00, refreshments 7:30 to 20:00, and evening cocktails 17:30 to 19:00 with last entry at 18:50. The cocktail service is limited to guests staying on the Swiss Executive floors (32 to 34) and to ALL Accor Platinum and Diamond members.
Check-in at 15:00, and what a late checkout costs
Can I check in early?
If a room is ready. The hotel’s own advice for a guaranteed early room is to book the previous night; otherwise it stores luggage free until the room is available. Checkout is 11:00. Late checkout, subject to availability and arranged at reception, is charged at 50 percent of the room rate until 17:00 and the full rate after 17:00.
What is the dress code?
In the public areas of the hotel, guests are asked not to wear slippers, pajamas, yukata or bathrobes. That includes the walk to the 11th-floor spa, so carry a change. Housekeeping services rooms between 10:00 and 19:00, and a privacy indicator by the door stops it; in-room dining runs 24 hours.
Where do I eat in the building?
Ten restaurants and bars on three floors: Table36 and Bar36 on the 36th; the teppanyaki restaurant Minami, the Japanese restaurant Hana-Goyomi, the Chinese Empress Room and the retro bar NAMBAR10 on the 10th; and SH’UN (whisky and wine), The Lounge and the Swiss Gourmet shop on the 6th beside the lobby, plus in-room dining around the clock. Menus carry allergen and dietary information; the hotel says full nutritional figures are not yet published. Restaurant breakfast prices and hours are not on the pages we read, so ask when booking.
What is in the room?
Individual air-conditioning control, complimentary Wi-Fi, a flashlight in the closet, an umbrella in the closet, a room safe (the hotel also has safe-deposit boxes at the front desk and says it is not liable for items left unattended or in the room safe), voice mail, laundry bags and forms, and a transportation guide to nearby sights. Adaptors and transformers, ice and in-room rental equipment come on request through Swiss Service, the one-button phone line to the hotel. Engineers are on duty 24 hours for faults.
Can the hotel book my trains and flights?
Yes. Swiss Service handles flight reservations and shinkansen tickets, including cancellations and changes, and the bell desk arranges car rental and taxis. Laundry handed in by 10:00 comes back at 19:00 the same day; by 15:00, at noon the next day; pressing by 18:00 is back at 8:00 the next morning.
Cancellation: free until 18:00 the day before, on the flexible rate
| Rate | Rule |
|---|---|
| Best Available Rate | Free to cancel or amend until 18:00 the day before arrival; after that the first night is charged. |
| Advance Saver, Seasonal Saver and other promotions | Their own terms; may be non-refundable. Read the offer. |
Official FAQ, read September 17, 2026.
How is the hotel tax added?
Osaka Prefecture’s accommodation tax is charged per person per night on the room rate and collected at the hotel, on the schedule in force since September 1, 2025: nothing under 5,000 yen, 200 yen from 5,000 to 14,999, 400 yen from 15,000 to 19,999, and 500 yen at 20,000 and above. It is not in the online room total.
Children: free to 12 in a parent’s bed, and the pool rule
Children aged 12 and under who share their parents’ bed stay free; tell reception at check-in. The only charge is the 10,000-yen extra bed if one is requested. Baby cots for infants under 2 and up to 15 kilograms are free and booked online, subject to availability, and housekeeping supplies amenities for babies and small children on request. Babysitting can be arranged in advance through reservations.
Can children swim?
Not under 6. The 20-meter heated pool on the 11th floor is closed to children below six for safety, and children aged 6 to 15 may use the pool and spa only between 9:00 and 18:00 with a guardian. The child policy also lists a facility fee of 2,200 yen per child, tax included, when the spa area is not part of your room package. The pool runs 6:30 to 21:00 every day.
Where else can a family go?
The hotel sits at the Dotonbori end of Namba, and the Osaka Amazing Pass and the trains to USJ all start within a few minutes’ walk; our Dotonbori, Osaka Amazing Pass and USJ guides cover the three.
The spa and pool, smoking and the small print

What is in Purovel Spa and Sport?
On the 11th floor: the 20-meter pool with a poolside hot tub under UV-cut glass, a gym with treadmills, bikes, a Smith machine and dumbbells with resident instructors, an exercise studio, separate men’s and women’s locker rooms with hot and cold baths and a dry sauna, and massage rooms. The gym and pool are free for adult hotel guests (children pay the fee above unless the room package includes the spa area); use of the bathing and sauna facilities varies by room type. Training wear, shoes and swimsuits can be rented. Whether tattoos are admitted is not stated; our Osaka ryokan guide lists baths that publish a rule.
Is smoking allowed anywhere?
Only in the designated smoking area on the 6th floor. Every guest room is non-smoking, e-cigarettes included, and a violation costs 15,000 yen plus a charge for two nights while the room is aired and cleaned. Pets are not accepted; the hotel will help find outside accommodation for them.
How do I pay?
American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard, Visa, JCB, Takashimaya Card, Nicos, Saison and UnionPay. Major currencies are exchanged at the front desk on the 6th floor, an ATM is in the lobby, and hotel gift e-cards with QR codes can be bought online for rooms, dining and spa. Osaka’s supply is 100 volts, 60 hertz; adaptors and transformers are lent on request.

Is there parking?
A public car park on the 5th and 6th floors of the building, run by an independent operator and monitored 24 hours, with an overnight rate and a per-30-minute rate after the first hour; the site does not print the amounts, so ask Swiss Service. Drivers heading to Kyoto have the Osaka to Kyoto options, and rail arrivals from the airport can compare the Rapi:t with the HARUKA if Kyoto is the next stop.
What about weddings, meetings and the little things?
The 7th floor holds the wedding planners, two Western-style chapels, a Shinto ceremony room, a photo studio, a beauty salon and a costume salon; the Naniwa Ballroom and meeting rooms are booked through Swiss Service. For the rest of a stay the A-Z is thorough: a jogging map at the bell captain desk, an in-house florist, wake-up calls, a computer and printer in the lobby (printing may be charged), a donations box for SOS Children’s Villages at the front desk, and a note that the hotel cannot hand out medicines such as painkillers but will point you to a pharmacy. Local calls dial 9, international 10, then the number.
Who Swissotel Nankai Osaka is for
Travelers landing at Kansai who want to step off the airport train into the lobby, families with children up to 12 who can share a bed, and anyone who values a flexible rate with an 18:00 cutoff. Smokers, pet owners and families with a child under 6 who wants the pool should read the rules above first.
