Hotel Granvia Osaka is the JR West hotel built into Osaka Station itself, with the front desk on the 19th floor of the South Gate Building and the station’s ticket gates a covered walk below. It moved its website to the JR West Hotels domain in July 2026, which broke most English guides that pointed at the old address, so this page reads the current Japanese pages and the hotel group’s contract: check-in 15:00, checkout at noon, cancellation 20 percent the day before and 80 on the day, a 22:00 no-show cutoff, free bed-sharing for elementary-age children on direct bookings only, no hotel parking, and an east entrance that closes at 1:00.
Everything below is from the hotel’s official site (access, family, rooms and breakfast pages) and the JR West Hotels accommodation contract, which lists Hotel Granvia Osaka by name. Room rates are not here; the fees, hours and rules the hotel prints are.

What is Hotel Granvia Osaka, and where exactly is it?

The hotel occupies the upper floors of the South Gate Building at 3-1-1 Umeda, the block that forms the south side of JR Osaka Station, with reception on the 19th floor and the top-floor Granvia Floor rooms on the 27th. The hotel’s own line is that you can reach it from the ticket gates without getting wet, and it is a Universal Studios Japan associate hotel, which is why it sells USJ-linked plans. Every room has its own dedicated Wi-Fi in addition to the hotel-wide network, and rooms for three use an extra bed (about 110 by 185 cm or 97 by 188 cm depending on the room), with family rooms taking four to six. If you are comparing it with its sister hotel in Kyoto Station, our Hotel Granvia Kyoto guide covers that one.
Which station exit do I use?
From JR Osaka Station, the quickest routes are the Central exit (turn right, walk toward the Central South exit, up the stairs, past the corner cafe to the east entrance) and the Sakurabashi exit (turn left, up the slope to the west entrance). The step-free route is from the third-floor Renrakukyo bridge exit: left into the South Gate Building, elevator down to the Daimaru 3F level, then the South Central elevators 1 to 3, which run 7:00 to 24:00, up to the 19th floor. Arriving on the Haruka airport express, the Kuroshio or the Osaka Higashi line, use the West exit and walk around via KITTE Osaka to the Sakurabashi side. From Hankyu Osaka-Umeda it is about 10 minutes; from Hanshin and from Midosuji line Umeda Station exit 8, about 5.
Check-in at 15:00, checkout at noon, and the 22:00 rule

What happens if I arrive late?
The front desk is open 24 hours and there is no curfew, but two things apply. The contract lets the hotel treat a booking as canceled if you have not arrived by 22:00 without contact, or two hours after an arrival time you gave, so message the hotel if a train runs late. And the east entrance is closed from 1:00 to 6:00; after midnight use the west entrance on the Sakurabashi side.
Can I stay past noon?
When the hotel agrees: 30 percent of the room charge for up to three extra hours, 50 percent for up to six, and the full charge beyond six. Luggage is held before check-in and after checkout, which the family page highlights as the way to see the city hands-free.
Cancellation: 20 percent the day before, 80 on the day
| When you cancel (up to 7 people) | Fee |
|---|---|
| The day before | 20% |
| On the day | 80% |
| No-show | 100% |
The percentages are of the basic room charge. Groups of 8 to 99 add 10 percent from 9 days out; groups of 100 or more pay 10 percent from 20 days, 20 percent from 9 days, 80 percent the day before and 100 percent on the day. Shortening a stay costs one night’s fee however many nights you cut. The contract also says a plan can set its own change and cancellation dates, so an early-bird or package rate may be stricter than this table.
Children: free bed-sharing, but only on direct bookings
A child of elementary-school age or younger sleeping in the same bed as a parent or grandparent stays free, one child per adult, and the hotel asks you to mind the number and width of the beds in the room you choose. The catch is in its own FAQ: the free bed-sharing may not apply to bookings made through travel agencies or their websites, including rail-and-hotel packages, so book direct or confirm with the agency first. Beds can be pushed together if you ask by the day before, subject to room type.
What is lent for babies and children?
A crib for children up to 24 months (not every room type can take one), a children’s set with a yukata of 110 to 120 cm, slippers of about 18 cm and a toothbrush, a bedwetting sheet, a children’s toilet seat and a diaper bin, all free, limited, and to be requested by the day before. A Blu-ray player costs 1,100 yen. Restaurants have high chairs and children’s tableware, will warm store-bought baby food, and need two days’ notice for food allergies. The bar Sandbank restricts children.
Are there rooms for four or more?
Yes. The triple, family and universal rooms page lists rooms whose third bed is an extra bed of about 110 by 185 cm or 97 by 188 cm, and family rooms that sleep four to six, with an extra bed supplied per room for the fifth and sixth guests. Universal-design rooms are listed on the same page. Because the free bed-sharing rule is one child per adult, a family of two adults and three children needs one of these rather than a twin.
Parking: there is none at the hotel

What does a guest get?
Hotel Granvia Osaka has no parking lot of its own. Guests park in the paid lots around the station and get a 2-hour discount ticket per night by showing the parking ticket at the front desk; restaurant and banquet guests get no discount.
Which lot should I use overnight?
The two lots the hotel names differ a lot for an overnight stay. The South Gate Building lot under the hotel charges 360 yen per 30 minutes with a 2,600 yen cap only between 21:00 and 8:00, no daily cap, and no exit between 0:00 and 6:00; the hotel’s example for 24 hours there is 11,960 yen. The Osaka Station City lot charges 310 yen per 30 minutes with a 3,000 yen maximum per 24 hours, which is the one the hotel recommends. The 2-hour ticket cannot be combined with a lot’s maximum rate.
Breakfast, the airports and the small print

Where is breakfast, and how much?
On the 19th floor, 7:00 to 10:00 with last entry at 9:30: 4,700 yen for adults and 2,300 yen for ages 4 to 12 at the door, or 4,100 yen and 2,100 yen at the guest rate. A lighter breakfast from 1,600 yen (1,440 yen for JR Hotel Members and WESTER members) is served 8:00 to 11:00 with last orders at 10:30.
How do I get there from Kansai and Itami airports?
From Kansai International Airport: the JR Kansai Airport Rapid to Osaka Station in about 65 minutes, or the airport limousine bus to Osaka Station (Herbis Osaka) in about 60 minutes plus a 5-minute walk. From Itami: the Osaka Monorail and the Midosuji line to Umeda in about 35 minutes plus 5 minutes on foot, or the limousine bus to Osaka Marubiru in about 30 minutes plus 5. Our Kansai Airport transfer guide covers the Haruka and the rapid trains in detail. From Shin-Osaka it is one stop and about 4 minutes; Kyoto is about 30 minutes by special rapid and Sannomiya about 20, which makes the hotel a base for day trips to Kyoto.
Valuables, members and USJ
The contract caps the hotel’s liability for valuables deposited at the front desk at 300,000 yen for this hotel, so anything worth more should stay with you or your own insurance. JR Hotel Members and WESTER members earn points and get restaurant discounts by showing the app. As a Universal Studios Japan associate hotel it sells park-linked plans; our USJ guide explains how associate hotels differ from the official ones at the park gate.
Who Hotel Granvia Osaka is for
Rail travelers who want to step off a train and into a hotel, families booking direct for the free bed-sharing, and anyone doing Kyoto, Kobe and Nara as day trips from one bed. For a luxury tower on the same station with a kitchen option, see InterContinental Osaka; for the Namba end of town with a pool, Swissotel Nankai Osaka.
(For a night by the airport before an early flight: our Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport guide notes that the hotel’s access page gives about 50 minutes from Osaka (Umeda) to Kansai Airport on the Haruka limited express.)
