Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka is a small hotel in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, about 10 minutes on foot from Fujikyu Highland Station. It is run by the same group as its sister hotel, Hotel Kaneyamaen, and all rooms are non-smoking. Before you book, three things matter: the open-air baths use spring water trucked in from the sister hotel; guests with tattoos cannot use the baths; and dinner is at the hotel’s own yakiniku restaurant, reached straight from the front lobby.

The open-air baths at Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka
When are the baths open?
The bath page lists 7:00 to 9:00 and 10:30 to midnight; between 9:00 and 10:30 they close for cleaning. There are separate open-air baths for men and women. Bring the bath towel and towel from your room; you can walk to the bath in your yukata.
Where does the hot-spring water come from?
The water is Fuji-san Onsen from the sister hotel, Hotel Kaneyamaen, brought in by tanker truck. The hotel lists it as a calcium-sodium-sulfate spring with high alkalinity.
Can I bathe with a tattoo?
No. The bath page states that guests with tattoos or irezumi are not allowed to bathe. The official pages do not list a private bath. Our tattoo and onsen guide covers other options.
Breakfast and yakiniku at Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka
What is breakfast?
Breakfast is served in a dining room for hotel guests, and you choose Japanese or Western. Tell the hotel your choice by 20:00 the day before; after that, you get the Japanese breakfast. The hotel mentions miso made in Fujiyoshida, natural-yeast bread and a woman head chef.
What is dinner?
Dinner is at YAKINIKU Tatsugaoka, the hotel’s own restaurant, which you can reach straight from the front lobby. Dinner plans include a set of Koshu local chicken yakiniku, with semi-private or partitioned seats given priority; on busy days you may sit in a larger room.
